Balance
Websters defines balance as "to arrange so that one set of elements exactly equals another". Balance is a key element in the art of design because it causes every thing to even out. With out it the image would be like a see-saw with only one person on it. We all know that's no fun.
The image to the right demonstrates balance in multiple ways. First the colors in each half go from muted to vivid and they alternate top left= vivid, bottom left= muted, top right= vivid, bottom right= muted. Also there are four squares in each half and both sets of squares are situated in alternating corners of the page giving the appearance of balance.
All of the pages on this site exibit balance. The images and text are organized in such a way that they balance eachother out.

This cube is another example of balance. Or should I say, it's an example of a lack of balance. with the right sice missing it dosent seem right. You know what it's supposed to be because you can kinda see that part but something is missing.
Now that the right side is there it is easy to see what this is an image of. Now it looks compleate and finished. It lookes balanced even though there are only three sides visible.
